What is Executive Coaching?

````
Executive coaching is a one-on-one talent development approach that supports managers, leaders and individuals in achieving their professional and career goals, removing blockages that hinder performance and enhancing leadership effectiveness. With a safe, structured and collaborative environment, the coach facilitates individuals to clarify their goals and harness their strengths and resources to take actionable steps towards profound and sustainable growth. At HCC, we help you address your challenges’ root causes so that you don’t merely solve an issue or achieve goals but transform behaviours that bring sustainable performance.
If you are not sure whether coaching fits your need, see if any of these resonate!
I want to perform better but don’t know where to start.
I want to find out what I am genuinely passionate about.
I feel stuck and unfulfilled at my current job.
I feel overwhelmed at work.
I feel stressed about living under the expectations of others.
I feel stressed about my interpersonal relationships at work and in life.
I feel overwhelmed by conflicting priorities at work and in life.
I want to live my own life.
I want to find my true passion.
I want to develop a more substantial executive presence.
I want to build a more engaged workforce.
I want to be more confident and assertive.
I want to leave a legacy for my team/organisation.
I have skills that I want to develop further.
I want an independent sounding board supporting me through challenges and change.
If any of these resonates, engaging an executive coach is the most effective approach to fast-track your growth. In a coaching relationship, you will receive tailored support and guidance on your learning. The coach provides a reflective space, holds you accountable, challenges you at times, and supports you towards your goals.
Assessment
Assessment-powered coaching
One of our superpowers is the use of powerful psychometric assessments to fast-track your self-awareness and deepen your insights. As a result, we always include at least two psychometric assessments in our coaching journey. We work with evidence-based and industry-proven assessments, including personality, motivation, unconstructive behaviour (derailers), conflict styles and personal values. We also frequently leverage 360-degree assessments to provide our coachees with a solid understanding of their perceived impact and effectiveness.
How does a typical coaching assignment look like?
How does a typical coaching assignment look like?
````
General Coaching Engagement

The first phase of the coaching assignment is establishing a coaching relationship with your coach and laying the foundations for success.
After meeting with your agreed manager/supervisor/internal sponsor (if applicable), you will receive in-depth feedback on your psychometric results and spend time clarifying your actual coaching needs and goals. These inputs will help you and your coach draft a preliminary roadmap and strategies for achieving your desired outcomes. This phase may take up to 3 sessions and involve several psychometric assessments to deepen your insights and fast-track your learning. We strongly recommend gathering 360 stakeholder feedback through interviews or structured surveys to gain a comprehensive perspective of your strengths, impact and development needs.

The second phase is where the real coaching takes place. At HCC, a typical coaching engagement consists of ten to fifteen individual coaching sessions over six to eighteen months. Each of our coaching sessions typically lasts 1.5 hours. From experience, coachees take 4-5 sessions to start “getting traction”. In Phase 2, you will partner with your coach to achieve your coaching goals. You will deal with obstacles and setbacks, monitor progress with feedback from relevant stakeholders, and review progress as you progress towards your goals. HCC coaching frequently includes our unique Progress Tracking Survey that allows you to get real-time feedback on your observed progress towards your goals.

The third phase aims to consolidate your progress and learning and sets up a system for sustaining your growth beyond the coaching assignment. This phase typically covers the final 3-4 sessions and includes a final meeting with your manager/supervisor/internal sponsor (if applicable). You will work with your coach to embed the new insights, behaviours and skills you gained into your future repertoire. You will consider the resources and support you need to continue your development, devise relapse strategies and plan for other eventualities. The last session is often a reflection on the entire coaching journey, a celebration of your success and the creation of rituals to sustain you beyond the coaching journey.
